This is a project in came across in our reference list. I immediately found the project to be exciting and I really loved it. The piece involves a unforgetting machine which is a software designed to recreate artifacts which belong to what was an island in river in Singapore, which became silted up and became absorbed in the mainland. The machine-recreated artifacts based on a description of the artifacts (which were throw away objects from passerbys on the island). In her work Debbie King asks “How do a group of separate objects and materials transform themselves into the representatives of a given time and space?” (http://www.dbbd.sg/works/the-library-of-pulau-saigon.shtml).

Even though these objects aren’t original authentic artifacts of the island, a real sense of narrative and memories can be experienced.
